[1] The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel: [2] To know wisdom and instruction, To perceive the words of understanding, [3] To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, judgment, and equity; [4] To give prudence to the simple, To the young man knowledge and discretion— [5] A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, [6] To understand a proverb and an enigma, The words of the wise and their riddles. [7] The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
For years, I thought I had most of it figured out. I worked, paid my bills, minded my business, and didn't venture too far off the beaten path. It's funny how time, experience, and age have a way of breaking the barriers of false reality. I was REALLY wrong.
Just today, I had a conversation with a dear friend (and mentor) about how a situation made me feel... a conversation my wife recommended. I knew my heart posture was not godly and I needed some outside perspective to nudge me back in line.
It's okay not to have it all figured out. God knows us (and our lack of knowledge) so well that He places His people in our lives for additional discernment, wisdom, and guidance through these obstacles. I am grateful for these connections. Sanctification isn't easy, but it is much harder to try without a Christ-centered community.
