[4] Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.
At my age, most people I know are making retirement plans. They are packing money into a 401 (k) and grinding out the last few years of dedicated employment. I admire those people. They have worked and earned for their golden years. If you are one of those people, just know I am excited for you!
For the majority of my adult life, my success was based on how much money I could earn. My life's potential had a monetary value. My wage was who I was and that was it... until Jesus. It's funny how He has a way of shaking up our predisposed notions (and rewriting our identity).
I see my work as an opportunity to worship. Yes, I make money, but I also serve others and honor God with my firstfruits. I don't ever see myself retiring because I enjoy what I do. I was made to work. I was created to worship. One of the ways I get to worship is through my work. My identity is in Him and I love that.
