[1] For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh, [2] that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and Christ, [3] in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Paul's heart longed to share the love of God (and his love for God) with others. His sole mission was to make Jesus known to the world and to love, correct, and encourage other believers. He could have been bitter towards the Romans. He could have become quietly reclusive, but he did not.
I wonder what a difference we could make in the world if our first (and only) approach was to love like Jesus. How many could be turned to the Lord if we chose to speak love instead of gossip? What if we looked for and pointed out the good in others? What if we led instead of judged?
These verses reminded me of some work I still have left to do in my own heart.
