[4] Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words.

I love a good pat on the back as much as anyone. Compliments go a long way with me. I appreciate the encouragement of gentle, caring words. Just because it makes me feel good doesn't mean it's good for me.

Correction and reproof are like medicine. Even though it is good for the soul, it is often bitter to taste. Scripture doesn't always line up with my wants, likes, or feelings. I can't change the Bible to fit my preferences. I have to read the Word and conform to what God says.
