[1] Paul and Timothy, bondservants of Jesus Christ, To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the bishops and deacons: [2] Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. [3] I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, [4] always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, [5] for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, [6] being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
I knew about God from an early age. Growing up in church, I became familiar with the stories of the Old Testament. I knew about the life, love, death, and resurrection of Jesus. I had heard it all.
What stood out as much as all of the Bible stories were the fervent prayers I heard my mother pray over me. She read scripture to me. She anointed me with oil and pled the blood over me while (she thought) I was sleeping. She knew I had my problems, but she never gave up hope on the plans God had for my life.
When God starts something, He sees it through. My mama believed that with the blindest of faith. I took many detours in my first forty-one years, but those prayers were heard and answered. She didn't get to see it in me on this side of Heaven, but God saw it through.
