Proverbs 1:19 NKJV

[19] So are the ways of everyone greedy for gain; It takes away the life of its owners.

I don't believe there is anything wrong with goals and aspirations. We all need some form of motivation; a good reason to get up and get moving. The problem I have found is when the wants exceed the means. We have to go more, do more, and own more which requires us to work more to pay more. Before you know it, there's little or no time left to enjoy the simpler things because too much time is dedicated to paying for all of the things.

Proverbs 22:7 - The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is a servant to the lender.

The older I get, the more I recognize just how limited my time is. I no longer believe in chasing the American dream. I believe we are called to pursue God's purpose of being free to bless others. It's hard to do if all of my time is spent chasing money to pay for selfish greed.
