There's a saying that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Good intentions don't always result in the greatest of outcomes because our plans are self-focused. We can't serve God and serve ourselves at the same time. Our way is usually selfish. That's not God's way.
When I quit chasing my wants and my plans, I thought I would be miserable. I figured I would constantly feel sorry for myself. What I found is quite the opposite happened. Serving God over myself has made me feel more at peace, more content, and more fulfilled. I traded happiness for joy.
