[31] The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut out. [32] The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.
Words carry a lot more weight than we realize. They can lift others up. They can tear others down. The power of life and death is in the tongue. The heavens and earth were brought forth at the command of God's voice. We can't dismiss the power of our own words, good and bad.
I know I say things occasionally out of frustration that come out wrong. Even if it's true, the intent can be muddled with attitude and opinions. I don't want to be remembered for the things I said wrong. I want to be a direct reflection of the goodness and grace of Christ with every part of me, my words included.
