[28] Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause, for would you deceive with your lips? [29] Do not say, “I will do to him just as he has done to me; I will render to the man according to his work.”
I am notoriously outspoken about things that do not sit well with me. If it isn't right, I don't just let it go. In the recent past, I have allowed myself to speak out of turn and overshare. Even though I wasn't wrong, the way I handled it was not God-honoring or helpful in any way.
My wife pointed out this tendency and asked me to consider my words. As hard as it was to hear, her encouragement lined up with the Holy Spirit's conviction. As a man who understands what I deserve, I can appreciate mercy as much as anyone. I don't want to miss an opportunity to apply grace where my judgment isn't needed.
