[8] Do not go hastily to court; For what will you do in the end, When your neighbor has put you to shame? [9] Debate your case with your neighbor, And do not disclose the secret to another; [10] Lest he who hears it expose your shame, And your reputation be ruined.
I can't help but wonder how many times I have missed opportunities to connect with someone because of a misunderstanding. I have a tendency to jump to conclusions. I often assume the worst without asking for context or clarity. I should know that what is said can easily be misinterpreted... I am notorious for talking too much.
I don't want to be remembered as being overly judgemental or unkind. I can't say I follow Jesus if I run towards every opportunity to gossip. I can't love like Jesus while bearing false witness against my neighbor. Lord, remind me of how much You love me when I am not extending Your love to others. Help me to honor You by demonstrating Your principles in all of my interactions.
