[21] As charcoal is to burning coals, and wood to fire, so is a contentious man to kindle strife.
Everything in our culture leans towards division. Politics, religion, and human rights are only a few of the hundreds of hot topics floating around. I have my own opinions about most of them. My stance leans on personal and religious convictions. Because I follow Jesus, my beliefs align with a conservative, God-honoring point of view.
Jesus didn't argue with the lost. He loved them with compassion and gentle correction. His way is hard for me because I am passionate about certain things. When we become argumentative, we fan the flames of discord... pushing people away from a loving God. I don't want my attitude to be the reason someone misses out on seeing Jesus in me.
