[15] A continual dripping on a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike; [16] Whoever restrains her restrains the wind, and grasps oil with his right hand.
The first fifteen years of our marriage were the hardest. There were some good times and some good years, but our relationship was surrounded by and filled with animosity and turmoil. Was I married to a contentious woman?
I married a good woman who deeply desired a man after God. She wanted spiritual headship in our home... when she asked, all I heard was nagging. What she got with me was a fool. I did everything completely opposite of what she needed.
Over the past four years, I have been diligent and intentional about following Jesus. In doing so, He has ushered peace into our home and our marriage. I can't speak of the characteristics of a contentious woman. "That woman" God gave me has been my greatest blessing and my best friend. It's amazing what God does in a relationship centered around Him.
