Proverbs 27:3 NKJV

[3] A stone is heavy and sand is weighty, but a fool’s wrath is heavier than both of them.

The famous first-century philosopher Epictetus recorded, "If a person can anger you, they can control you."

We see it all over the news and social media... instances of provoked violence. Words can trigger people into a blind rage. If someone cuts you off in traffic, threatens, or lashes out at you, what is your natural reaction? I know what mine is. It isn't normally kind, caring, or God-honoring. My tendencies lean toward pride and ego (the fool in me).

Sanctification does not cater to my pride. Our ego wants to make us the god of our story. Every part of our "fool" says we should feed into unrighteous anger... we should react for the sake of perceived injustice.

God's Word instructs us otherwise.

James 1:20 - for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

Ephesians 4:31 - Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.
