[1] My son, pay attention to my wisdom; Lend your ear to my understanding, [2] that you may preserve discretion, and your lips may keep knowledge.
My wife accuses me of being hard of hearing. While I am inclined to agree, I will also admit that I can be hard of listening. Once I get my mind made up about something, I don't adjust well to further (or better) instructions. I don't necessarily prefer to do things the hard way. My way usually ends up being the hard way.
If we were to dig in and pay attention, to hang onto every word in scripture, can you imagine how much easier things would go? I can think of hundreds of (or more) situations where I could have been spared heartache, headache, and trouble. If it weren't for grace, many of those times would have surely ended in my death. I am thankful for that grace that has ushered me into a place of greater understanding for His will in my life.
