[6] Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, [7] Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, [8] Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest. [9] How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep? [10] A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep— [11] So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, And your need like an armed man.
I enjoy downtime as much as anyone. I look forward to relaxing and any form of mindless activity. I also understand that idle time comes at a cost. As a man, I don't have the luxury of spending my days doing nothing. I am responsible for my family and I can't provide for them sitting on my behind.
I don't always love working. I am thankful for the career I have and the opportunity I am given to be a provider. Some days, I would love to just stay home, but God didn't give me a family to lead from a seated position. The best way for me to honor the Lord is by working hard and providing well for my loved ones.
