[1] I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. [2] And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Most folks don't have a problem with speed limits and basic laws, but balk at the mention of loving your neighbor. God's laws aren't merely suggestions for how we should think about living. They are a blueprint to being godly and holy.
I wrestle with speed limits when I am in a hurry. The anxiety of being late pulls at me to push beyond the legal limits. In the same way, my flesh wants to drag me away from the protective custody of the Lord. My heart wants what it wants, even if it leads to spiritual death and destruction. The flesh will always desire pleasure over sacrifice.
Lord, help me to desire Your will over my own. Help me to live in a manner that seeks to serve You over my selfish wants and wishes.
