[1] What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision? [2] Much in every way! Chiefly, because to them were committed the oracles of God.
I believe God honors the obedience and commitment of the keepers of His law. We find an abundance of favor when we hear His Word and do what it says. Parents aren't required to administer as much discipline to the children who abide by the rules. It is a simple concept that holds true in most parent-child relationships.
Where things go terribly wrong is when we, as obedient children, point fingers at our disruptive siblings. We sit and judge instead of love and correct. We "call out" when we should "go to." Jesus was quick to correct His disciples, but His correction was led by love and filled with grace.
As followers of Christ, we are called to extend the same level of mercy and grace that we expect to receive from God. It's easy to say, but hard to do. Jesus didn't lead into every conversation with what others were doing wrong. He established a loving relationship with healthy communication. You can't offer correction without connection.
Matthew 22:36 - “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” 37. Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38. This is the first and great commandment. 39. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40. On these two commandments, hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
