[12] Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. [13] For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. [14] For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. [15] For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” [16] The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, [17] and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
As a grown man, I don't like to think of myself as weak, helpless, or defenseless. I want to believe I can hold my own against most anything. I take pride in being an independent provider for my family and my home. I am also aware that nothing I have, can, or will do is something I could have done on my own.
Although I try not to act like a child, I am well aware that I am one. I am a child of God. I need His support. I desire His approval. I want Him to be proud of me. I rely on Him for provision and protection. I seek out His wisdom when I need advice, direction, and wisdom.
I know I can't count on every day being an easy day, but I take comfort in knowing that I do have a Father I can call out to and count on any time.
