Consider Your "Focus"

Recently a brother in Christ asked me to consider my "focus", and what that entails. Well I looked up focus in the dictionary for the sake of it. The Webster says as a noun: a center of activity, attraction, or attention; a point of concentration; direction; a state or condition permitting clear perception or understanding. As a verb: to cause to be concentrated; to concentrate attention or effort; converge. Moving forward, each month Linda and I will present words of encouragement relevant to “focus.” Let us then consider John chapter 14. Jesus says in verse 1: “Let not your hearts be troubled, Believe in God; believe also in me.” Of course, there is a much bigger discussion or history lesson to lead up to these specific words of truth. However, the take away to consider is that your focus be in God and His son Jesus. It is amazing that Jesus says that with this focus, our hearts will not be troubled. Later on Jesus says in verse 6: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” This cannot be clearer for our focus, that in these words, he provides the point of concentration to focus, that this concentration is true, and by this focus we have eternal life. In the last part of verse 6 Jesus says: “No one comes to the Father except through me” giving us the convergence of our focus to know our creator. Amen, amen!
