[10] If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small. [11] Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter. [12] If you say, “Surely we did not know this,” Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?
Self-reliance is a dangerous space to operate from. I might think I know what's best. I can assume I can handle everything on my own. In the end, I am an unguided vessel on an uncharted course. We're not designed to operate that way... at least not well (or for long).
I know what happens when I count on myself. I am not wise enough to know what lies ahead. I am not strong enough to carry everything by myself. If experience has taught me anything, it is that I have to trust and lean on the Lord for EVERYTHING. His resources are limitless and His love is endless.
